Mark Hamill: George Lucas Demanded Daffy Duck Cartoon Run Before Every Star Wars Screening

  • Mark Hamill took to Twitter to confirm a rumor that Star Wars creator George Lucas wanted the Looney Toons classic cartoon "Duck Dodgers in the 24th-and-a-half Century" to be shown before each and every screening of Star Wars in its first theatrical run. The only reason this didn't happen, says Hamill, is because they were unable to get the rights.

    "It would have been an icebreaker to let the audience know what was coming was less than dead serious," said Hamill. Check out the full tweet below.

    Those with both HBO Max and Disney+ accounts--or at least the passwords to those services from someone generous or forgetful in your life--can create an at-home facsimile of the experience, as the former has has dozens of Looney Tunes shorts, including 3 Duck Dodgers cartoons (and is expected to be getting the recent Duck Dodgers spin-off in the future) and the latter has the full Star Wars catalog.
